Animal Production

“Animal Production” is a photo series that reveals the hidden world of the animal agriculture industry. Drawing from her experience as a photojournalist and a student of fine art, Samantha composes images that are as striking as they are startling.

“Animal Production” explores the often obscured spaces where our meat is rendered, documenting farmed animals as they live and die, as well as the people working to feed us. Samantha’s photo series presents this deliberately unseen world with a steady, nonjudgmental eye.

“[Samantha’s] images of modern farming methods provoke a reflection on the contemporary relationship between humans and animals... The formal beauty of her compositions makes a difficult subject approachable, persuading us not to automatically turn away. Instead, we are able to pause, consider, and reflect, and perhaps come to a greater understanding of the cultural and economic bonds between ourselves and animals.”
